Beauty on display in Lake George today.

Grateful for the privilege of being able to serve as a minister of word and sacrament but also grateful for weeks like these focused on my primary calling as Husband, Father, and Child of God.

Current Status: Peaceful

Driving five and a half hours with my young kids in the backseat is never fun but I’m certain it will be worth it once we get to Lake George.

My kids had off from school today so I took them to a car museum to see hundreds of cars. The consensus was that the Batmobile was the coolest car.

Grateful for morning walks that help me to gain insight and clarity on what I’m thinking and feeling and help me determine what to do next.

We celebrated All Saints Sunday today which gives thanks for those who have gone before us and the way their example echoes through the generations to come.

Was visited by a pair of Jehovah’s Witnesses this morning eager to talk with me but when I told them that I’m a Lutheran pastor they decided to leave. I guess my profession means I’m exempt from hearing their beliefs.

Watching the Philadelphia Union ⚽️ try to win the MLS cup. I haven’t watched much Union soccer but it’s exciting to watch and support them today.

All right Game 6 here’s hoping some of that Phillies post season magic still remains. Let’s Go Phils! ⚾️

Did a lot of driving in Chester county today and spent the bulk of the time in awe and admiration of the beautiful fall foliage.

Having an early meeting gives me license to go out for breakfast on a weekday morning.

It felt great to watch the Phillies feast on the Astros last night. Here’s hoping they keep it up. Go Phils!

Finishing a book last night and the beginning of a new month means I need to figure out what book I plan to read next.

They say that a person’s personality is the sum of their experiences. But that isn’t true, at least not entirely, because if our past was all that defined us, we’d never be able to put up with ourselves. We need to be allowed to convince ourselves that we’re more than the mistakes we made yesterday. That we are all of our next choices, too, all of our tomorrows.

Just finished what was a powerful story about the beautiful, difficult, painful, joyful, reality of being human and how we all need other people even, perhaps especially, if we think we don’t.
